Ulrike Brandi

Ulrike Brandi is a German lighting designer, educator, and founder of Ulrike Brandi Licht, established in Hamburg in 1986. Trained in industrial design under Dieter Rams, she has developed lighting concepts across architecture, interiors, urban spaces, daylight, and masterplanning, with her practice having worked on hundreds of international projects. Her portfolio includes major cultural and architectural projects such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Mercedes-Benz Museum Stuttgart, Rotterdam Centraal, Royal Academy of Music London, Munich Airport, and the Pudong International Airport. Brandi has also taught internationally and founded the Brandi Institute for Light and Design, contributing significantly to lighting education and professional practice. Her approach places particular emphasis on the relationship between artificial light, daylight, architecture, atmosphere, and the character of a place.
