Ingo Maurer

Ingo Maurer (1932–2019) was a German designer whose work transformed lighting into a medium of product design, art, experimentation, and emotional expression. After founding his design studio in Munich in 1966, Maurer created an extensive body of iconic lighting objects, including Bulb, Lucellino, Zettel’z, and Porca Miseria!. His designs often challenged conventional ideas of what a light fixture should be, combining technology, craftsmanship, humor, and poetic imagery. Through both products and large-scale installations, Maurer established a distinctive approach in which the light source itself could become the central subject of a design.
