Apollo has become an artistic statement. The lamp is placed in a poetic suspension between stone and light, uniting two completely opposite natures in a single structure. Marble, usually heavy, hard and static, is here on the verge of floating, an illusion made possible only by the luminous void between its two pieces. At first glance, the lamp appears as a celestial body suspended in the moment of falling and returning, just as light moves and reflects in space.

But from a functional perspective, the question that arises is how much functionality does this design offer beyond a work of art? The presence of marble in the structure is not only a challenge in terms of weight, but also affects the diffusion of light to some extent. The LED light source chosen provides a soft, diffused light, but the transparency of the glass and the solidity of the form focus the light in a specific area. This makes the lamp more of an ambient element than a direct, functional light source. Physical stability is also something that raises doubts in the mind of the viewer; the fulcrum and center of gravity are adjusted so that the upper and lower weights are balanced, but the curved nature of the design, while visually pleasing, can challenge stability against impacts or displacement.

If we were to delve into the inspiration for this work, what is imagined before our eyes is not simply a lamp, but a reflection of the moment when light hits a polished surface; as if the designer has captured this elusive moment when light rays reflect on the ground and displayed it in a tangible form. The closest analogy can be found in a drop of water falling from a height and taking on an elongated, symmetrical shape at the moment of impact. This lamp has the same sense of suspension and uncertainty, between stillness and movement, between weight and weightlessness, between body and void. It is these fundamental contradictions that make it a work to contemplate, something made not just to illuminate, but to look at and to think.
